Gus's parrotGus B. Kaufman, Jr., Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has practiced at An Open Space for twenty years, seeing individuals, groups, couples and families and training other therapists. Gus has lectured and taught around the U.S., Europe and Israel. He is a senior trainer in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor therapy, a powerful, gentle, body-based method of emotional re-education and healing. He has used this in work with groups as various as teens in trouble at a residential school in Massachusetts, people in chronic pain and other therapists seeking personal growth. A lover of nature and people, Gus has co-founded five non-profit organizations and published many chapters and articles. Gus is a people person who also loves hiking, mountain biking, birding, soccer and reading.


 is a name chosen by Jean and Henry Harsch meant to evoke a feeling of openness and acceptance, tempered with protective and compassionate limits. As Jean and Henry transition into retirement, the other therapists who practiced with them have moved on to new office spaces.
