DEADLINE: JUNE 10, 2025

Submit Your Audition to An Open Space

A captioning company is looking for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing actors, performers, and/or interpreters to provide on-screen ASL interpretation for streaming content produced by major television and film studios. (If you saw the ASL-interpreted “Barbie,” it’s just like that.) While there is no schedule yet, we know the work will be done on a sound stage in Los Angeles, and will likely require several weeks of availability. If you are interested and would be able to stay and work in Los Angeles, please follow the instructions below for submitting your audition video. We will send these along to the captioning company, and they will make the final casting choices.

Instructions

Below TEST is a three-minute clip from a show called Meridian. The scene is between a POLICE CAPTAIN and a DETECTIVE. Your task is to interpret the entire scene, playing both characters. The client has asked for ASL structure, rather than English word order. Please set yourself with the following:

  • Shoot in LANDSCAPE (horizontal) camera orientation.

  • Use a solid, neutral background.

  • Remove jewelry or watches, and cover visible tattoos.

  • Make sure you are well-lit. We want to see you!

  • Name your video file like this: LastName_FirstName (So: Brad Pitt would send us a file called: Pitt_Brad)

  • Upload your video to THIS FOLDER.

  • Upload a headshot (does not have to be professional, just a picture of your face close up) to the same folder.
